About Me

Zijiang “Jenny” Yang, LMHC

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) providing bilingual (English & Mandarin) therapy for adults navigating stress, emotional challenges, and life transitions.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Iowa and completed my graduate training in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine at Boston University. During my clinical training, I worked in a partial hospitalization program (PHP), where I began developing experience supporting individuals with a wide range of mental health concerns. I also gained early clinical experience in residential addiction treatment during my training, where I later transitioned into a full-time role.

Since graduating in 2022, I have continued working in residential addiction treatment, supporting individuals with complex clinical presentations, including co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions. Over time, I transitioned into a clinical supervisor role, providing guidance to both clients and clinicians.

My clinical work includes conducting comprehensive mental health assessments, developing DSM-informed diagnoses, and creating individualized treatment plans for clients with diverse and complex presentations. I draw from evidence-based therapeutic approaches to support meaningful and sustainable change.

I have experience working with depression, anxiety, stress, trauma-related concerns, psychosis, and substance use. I am comfortable working with both emotional challenges and more complex psychiatric conditions, and I approach each case with care, flexibility, and clinical awareness.

In therapy, I take a non-judgmental and curious approach. I believe meaningful change comes from developing a deeper understanding of yourself, rather than being told what to do. I often work with clients to identify strengths they may not have fully recognized, while also building coping skills that feel practical and sustainable.

I also work collaboratively with clients to explore their values and use them as a foundation for meaningful and lasting change. My role is to help you ask the right questions, better understand your experiences, and move forward in a way that feels authentic to you.

Having lived and trained across different cultural contexts, I am especially mindful of the complexities that can come with navigating identity, expectations, and belonging. I aim to create a space that is thoughtful, respectful, and responsive to each person’s unique background and experiences.

I strive to create a space where you can slow down, reflect, and make sense of what you are going through—at a pace that feels right for you.
